Welcome! I'm Matt, the founder (sounds serious) of Cardboard Archive. I'm a lifelong collector myself, and that love for collecting has grown into the Archive, partly out of joy, partly as a reaction. I've found that as the space has grown exponentially, the shopping experience itself has somehow become both exceptionally sterile and way too loud - especially online. Whether selling or buying, it can occasionally feel like all the personality and joy this hobby once had is being stripped away. I wanted a place that brought that back to buying & selling collectibles. So I made it.
I grew up in the era of shopping colorful Toys-R-Us shelves and stretching my little arms to reach for packs. The smell of Target popcorn wafting by as I plumbed the depths of my child mind for what set had the cards I needed. It always felt so whimsical - collectibles and cards were an escape, a fantasy you could dive into with both feet. That's the energy we're trying to bring to you here at Cardboard Archive.
A little less noise & a lot less stress.
You shouldn't have to scroll endlessly or stress about shipping or authenticity. As more of the hobby moves through a handful of giant marketplaces and corporations, simply buying or selling a few cards can feel more complicated than it should. Scalpers and bad actors have made things more difficult for both the community and the businesses that serve it - and it's a bit of a bummer how little is done to check that.
This isn't to say we don't love how many people can sell cards now, or that we don't utilize the modern marketplaces. But that doesn't mean it can't feel like a simple and integrated experience, one where fair pricing and consistent shipping and authentication standards are guaranteed. We want you to continue to support your LGS and respectable vendors, we just want to be another nook you can visit online, and hopefully even in person someday.

Because it matters.
Sometimes it’s the card you chased for years. Sometimes it’s an old book, a strange little collectible, or something that brings back a very specific Saturday afternoon. That’s the thread running through the Archive. Cards are at the heart of it, but there’s room for the unexpected too. If it makes us stop, take a closer look, and want to know its story, it might belong here. We understand what our collections mean to us at the Archive, so whether you're selling us yours or adding to it, we aim to treat you with transparency and respect at every step along the way, and have a little fun too!
Take a breath, relax and browse our selection - hopefully you'll feel a bit of that whimsy and joy I was talking about. Credit to my wonderful wife for improving the atmosphere with our delightful Archive mascot (the mushrooms you'll see around the site!) and our logo and collection art, all lovingly hand drawn by her. We hope to be a positive force in the TCG & collectibles space for many years to come, and we have many exciting plans for the future.
